No, I’m Not at the Pool!

“Unified Communications” Pre-Con Session (Afternoon)

Wow – the afternoon was really disappointing.  We just wrapped up (5:10 pm), and the good pieces of all afternoon could have been covered in about 30 minutes.

Great demos showing integration of Exchange 2007 with VOIP using Communicator, and launching Live Meeting while in the middle of a chat in Communicator.

However, as the afternoon progressed, the Hands-on-Lab virtual machines crapped out … and they couldn’t fix them.  Sooooo, the session will definitely get a bad eval.  Disappointing … very disappointing.

MY Hotel – OH MY!

I don’t think this post would be appropriate in full, because I’m not sure exactly how to express what I saw … without either offending some people or grossing other people out.

Let’s just say that there is a local Orlando event that just ended this past week, and I believe my hotel was used for special events related to it.  Way too many speedos.

"Unified Communications" Pre-Con Session (Morning)

Well, it’s about 11:30, and we’re in the middle of a bunch of labs.  The info this morning has been pretty good so far, but it’s all the stuff I’m least interested in with unified messaging (albeit important).  It’s all about Exchange 2007 (administration, features, etc.).

I will say that OWA for Exchange 2007 ROCKS!  Wow, you can’t tell the difference between the web-based UI to Exchange now and Outlook … it’s sweeeeet.

I know Exchange 2007 is a BIG project/effort, so it may be awhile before we get there, but it will definitely be nice.

The afternoon is supposed to get into the nitty-gritty of what I want to see … Office Communications Server 2007.  So, we’ll see how things go after lunch.

About to start the Pre-Conference Session

Well – the Pre-Conference session on Unified Messaging is about to begin.   So … nothing on that yet.

The bonehead that I am – I now do not have a charger for my laptop here in Orlando.  I brought the WRONG charger … yep, I’m brilliant.  So … Best Buy was closed when I got in last night, and I’m in this session all day today.  I’ll see if I have any luck finding one at Best Buy tonight for my model laptop.  Keep your fingers crossed.  Blogging may be spotty, depending on when I get in … may have to go back to old “pen & paper” (yuk!).
